Free SSL Certificates

HTTPS for every site you host. Free, automatic, forever.

Every 2MHost plan includes free SSL: issued, installed, and renewed automatically. Same TLS 1.3 and AES‑256 encryption as a paid certificate. No bills or expired-cert outages.

What's included

Everything a paid SSL gives you. None of the invoice.

Free SSL on 2MHost isn't a stripped-down trial. You get the same cryptography, the same browser trust, and the same wildcard coverage, issued automatically by Let's Encrypt and managed for you by cPanel's AutoSSL.

$0 today. $0 at renewal. All websites.

  • Same encryption as paid certs

TLS 1.3, AES-256, and modern cipher suites. A browser can't tell the difference between this and a $200/yr commercial cert.

  • *

    Wildcard certificates

One cert covers yourdomain.com and every subdomain you add (*.yourdomain.com). No extra steps.

  • Auto-installed at provisioning

The moment your domain's DNS resolves to your hosting account, AutoSSL issues and installs the certificate. No CSR generation. No Domain verification or manual upload.

  • Auto-renewed forever

Certificates renew silently every ~60 days, well before the 90-day expiry. The "oh god my cert expired on a Sunday" outage simply can't happen here.

Under the hood

Three steps. One of them yours.

Issuance, installation, and renewal all happen server-side. Most customers never even see it run.

  1. Point

Point your domain at your hosting

Connect your domain's nameservers (or A record) to our hosting. That's the only step that involves you.

  2. Issue

    AutoSSL issues the certificate

Within minutes of DNS resolving, cPanel's AutoSSL validates with Let's Encrypt and installs the cert across web and mail services.

  3. Renew

    Renews itself, ~30 days early

Certificates carry a 90-day validity. Ours roll over at day 60, so a single failed validation can't take your site offline.

FAQ

Common SSL questions.

Quick answers to what people usually ask before moving a domain over.

Is a free SSL really as secure as a paid one?

Yes. Cryptographically, they're identical: both use the same TLS protocol and cipher suites. The only differences in paid certs are administrative (organization validation, warranty terms, assurance branding). For 99% of websites those add zero technical security.

Do I have to install or renew anything?

No. cPanel's AutoSSL issues, installs, and renews certificates on your account automatically. You don't click anything. You don't get renewal-reminder emails. There's nothing for you to renew.

Does it cover subdomains and email too?

Yes. The certificates cover everything, so blog.yourdomain.com, shop.yourdomain.com and any other subdomain you add are secured automatically. The same cert is loaded by your mail server, so IMAP, POP3, SMTP and webmail all negotiate TLS too.

What does SSL not protect against?

SSL only encrypts data in transit between visitor and server. It doesn't scan your files for malware (that's Imunify360, included on every plan). It doesn't filter spam or phishing email (that's our spam filter, also included). And it doesn't patch outdated software: a vulnerable WordPress plugin stays vulnerable, HTTPS or not.

Will my old plain-HTTP links stop working?

No. We turn on a server-side HTTP → HTTPS redirect, so any incoming http:// URL is upgraded transparently. The only thing you may want to clean up is hardcoded http:// asset URLs inside your CMS, since those cause "mixed content" warnings.

Ready for HTTPS by default?

Hosting from $3.25/month. Free SSL included on every plan.

Pricing-locked for life. 30-day money-back guarantee. Auto-installed certificate the moment your domain resolves.
